Guest Speakers: Karl Connolly and Chris Clayton

Karl Connolly

Karl is a qualified town planner whose career has included spells in both the public and private sectors. Initially employed with Merseyside Development Corporation he worked on a number of transformational projects that started the regeneration of the Mersey Waterfront, followed by a capital programme management role with North Liverpool Partnership.Karl is now a Senior Manager with Cheshire West and Chester Council (CW&CC) and manages its key programme areas; Chester Renaissance, Weaver Valley Partnership, Ellesmere Port Development Board and Market Town and Rural Agenda. Karl will be providing an overview of CW&CC programme areas and their key priority projects.

Chris Clayton

Chris is a Chartered Surveyor whose private sector career has included development and private practice. He has worked for Hillier Parker in London, King & Co in Manchester and set up his own property consultancy in Liverpool in 1988.Now living in Shrewsbury, Chris still runs his own planning and development consultancy and, for the last 10 years, has been consultant to Chester Race Company where he has overseen a major development programme with the transformation of the Racecourse into an all-year-round leisure, conference and events venue.Chris will trace the history of the UK's oldest course and review recent and future developments.
