The Molly House sold to first time buyer

The bar in Manchester’s Gay Village has been sold on a freehold basis for £1.3m.

The Molly House has been purchased by Henry Kennedy-Skipton who plans to continue to run the business under management and update its interior.

Skipton said: “This is an iconic venue in a vibrant part of the city. The previous owner did a great job; now the opportunity exists to improve the venue even further, something which excites me greatly. This will benefit our customers and the Village as a whole.”

Funding was secured through commercial finance broker, Christie Finance, an arm of Christie & Co which completed the sale.

The Molly House sits on Richmond Street, behind Canal Street, and has capacity for 208 people. It currently contains a public bar and tea room on the ground floor, another bar and covered terrace area on the second floor, and the late licensed Company Bar in the basement.

Brian Flockhart, who owned the The Molly House for 21 years, sought the sale in order to retire. He said: “We are delighted to have sold the property and business and congratulate Henry and all the team at Christie & Co for their efforts to make this happen.”

Kuits represented Brian Flockhart on the deal.
