Investment Management Board Independent Member

Company: Trafford Council

Salary: £1,000 per meeting

Web: https://www.greater.jobs/job/75662453

Trafford Council adopted an Asset Investment Strategy in 2017 and established a cross-party Investment Management Board (IMB) to consider investment decisions.

The aims of the Investment Strategy are to support regeneration in Trafford, and the wider Greater Manchester economy, whilst also providing a stable income stream to the Council. CBRE have been appointed as lead advisors to the Council for this work.

We are looking to recruit an industry expert to become a member on the IMB, providing additional scrutiny and expertise to support effective decision making. This would be as a non-voting, co-opted independent member. The IMB is the decision-making body for all of the Council’s investment decisions, and also monitors investment returns and the review of investment assets. It takes account of compliance with the Council’s adopted Investment Strategy, risk management, regeneration outcomes and financial return.

Applications are invited from interested persons with relevant experience who can communicate and question effectively, absorb key information and have knowledge in areas such as property investment, finance and risk management. Further, eligible applicants must not have been an employee of CBRE in the last five years, a relative or close friend of an employee of CBRE, have any significant business dealings with CBRE.

The Committee meets approximately nine times per year (generally in the early evening) and you would be expected to attend these meetings. An allowance of £1,000 per meeting is made for the role. It is expected that candidates will serve for four years and this will be confirmed by the Council when it approves the appointment.

To apply you should submit a CV and covering letter through our recruitment system. You should outline your experience and set out how you meet the requirements of the role as set out in the person specification.

To be eligible, applicants must not have been an employee or elected member of Trafford Council in the last five years, a relative or close friend of an employee or elected member of the council, be actively engaged in any party political activity, have any significant business dealings with the council, or be currently active in advising investors operating in Greater Manchester.

Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to an interview with members of the IMB and officers.
Closing date: 9 November 2024.
