GALLERY | Shedkm wins backing for Heswall Church
The Lighthouse Church has secured planning consent a new-build facility and community centre in Heswall, Wirral, designed by architect Shedkm.
The facility will replace the existing church and parish hall between Telegraph Road and Pye Road, described as “no longer fit for purpose” with structural problems making maintaining the existing building difficult.
This was built in 1963, and the architect said the existing building “fails to capitalise on [its] superb location, offering blank, unwelcoming facades to both streets”.
Shedkm’s designs feature a multi-use rooms and halls around a central worship space; there is also a kitchen, offices, multi-purpose meeting and function rooms, and a hall. Glazed to the front, the building is designed to fit with the building line of the street with views of the community facilities to animate its frontage.
The cost of building the scheme is around £1.3m and the church is around half way to achieving its funding target.

Another great scheme from ShedKM. You really get the sense this will be a fantastic community asset.
