PAG’s Morecambe business park secures fully let status

SCS Logistics and Advanced Bacterial Sciences have signed 10-year leases for a total of 46,500 sq ft at Northgate Business Park, situated within White Lund Industrial Estate.

Fully let status comes to the property two years after Property Alliance Group acquired the site. PAG subsequently refurbished the business park so that it could offer Grade A offices as well as industrial space.

That industrial space is what SCS Logistics has nabbed, taking 26,500 sq ft. ABS, on the other hand, has gravitated to the park’s office offering – taking 20,000 sq ft.

ABS will use part of its office as a laboratory to aid in its research and development of microbial-based products that help combat pollution.

Gareth Hughes, executive chairman at ABS, spoke about how a Morecambe office could help the company’s plans to grow its staff from 16 scientists to 50.

“Our chief scientists obtained their PhDs at Lancaster University which has a strong environmental focus across a number of disciplines and attracts the scientific talent we are looking to hire,” Hughes said.

“When we were looking where to locate our R&D HQ, this was an important consideration.

“We also continue to receive fantastic support from the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership and the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, and have received funding from RedCAT, the Lancashire Centre for Alternative Technologies, and Maven Capital Partners.”

Ian Hunter, director at PAG, said: “ABS will benefit from the site’s accessible location and our ability to create a purpose-built space that meets their specific needs.

“Having worked with similar companies in the life sciences sector to create specialist laboratories within our schemes, we have the skills and experience to support ABS and its growth plans,” Hunter concluded.

ABS and SCS Logistics join fellow tenant Rentokil Initial, which signed a five-year lease for 7,000 sq ft last year.
