PwC moves into No1 Spinningfields
Accountant PwC has completed its relocation to No1 Spinningfields, with 920 staff moving from its existing offices in Barbirolli Square.
PwC has taken 67,000 sq ft over three floors, with a further floor of 25,000 sq ft also secured for future growth. Its 920 staff will all relocate to No1 Spinningfields, having been based at its Barbirolli Square office near the Bridgewater Hall for around 20 years.
The company was first confirmed as a tenant for the building in 2015, initially announcing it would take 50,000 sq ft over two floors, but increased its take-up this year.
Other occupiers at No1 Spinningfields include law firms Squire Patton Boggs and Weightmans, which have 27,500 sq ft and 18,000 sq ft respectively.
Developer Allied London sold the 310,000 sq ft office-led mixed-use building to clients of Schroders Real Estate this month for more than £200m. The building was 87% pre-let prior to completion this summer.

“Our people have led the development of the office and we’ve worked very closely with the developers to design an office that breaks new ground in many ways. The office focuses on allowing our people and clients to work flexibly, utilising technology to ensure we can work together effectively.
“Co-working space for our clients reflects the demands of our clients to work together closely with their strategic advisors.
“This will be a truly transformational move for PwC in Manchester and our people can’t wait to experience the new space.”
Given the imminent closing of the Liverpool office, I would certainly urge all businesses and Councils in the LCR to drop PWC from their list of auditors and consultants, and focus instead on local suppliers with offices and staff homed in the region. Thanks for the memories but there’s no reason to use the services of companies that have no commitment to our region, when there are others who can do the same work who do give a damn.

Dear Iwan, what proportion of your sales in the North West is derived from the LCR and what is their sterling value? Or more to the point, when you lose all of that, will you still need 900 staff in your spanking new Manchester office?
