Development team for Leyland Town Deal projects announced
Wilson Mason will be the architect for the South Ribble Borough community’s £25m regeneration schemes, which focus on revamping the town centre, improving Leyland Market and creating a business hub.
Woolgar Hunter has been appointed as the structural and drainage consultant. Lanpro will handle landscape and public realm design. Steven A Hunt & Associates will act as mechanical, electrical and plumbing consultant.
The consultants will now set about working on the design for each of the projects, which will then be sent to public consultation.
Leyland Town Deal vice chair, Cllr Paul Foster, said: “It is great to see work starting on this fantastic project that will bring a new vision for Leyland to life – helping to develop a revitalised leisure, retail and hospitality offering with opportunities for enterprise to thrive and residents to gain skills.”
Leyland was awarded £25m from the Town Fund earlier this year, one of twenty North West communities to be granted money from the scheme.
Its proposals focused on three major projects, which are now set to come to fruition:

Town Centre: This scheme is dedicated to improving public realm in the area, including creating two new public spaces including a market square and a green space off Hough Lane. It also includes plans to increase commercial development opportunities to help diversify what’s on offer in Leyland. Also part of the project: improving connectivity around the area and walking and cycling facilities.
