Crossfield wins £36m Little Hulton contract
Salford City Council will this week formally appoint the Liverpool-based construction firm to build 177 homes on the former Harrop Fold High School site on Longshaw Drive.
The £36m construction contract will see Crossfield construct 144 houses and 45 apartments at the 11-acre Little Hulton site.
Construction of the homes will take around three years and work is due to start in the middle of February.
Once built, the majority of the homes will be operated by Salford City Council’s social housing arm Dérive. Dérive wants to deliver 3,000 homes over the next decade.
In addition, there will be some PRS units and some available for open market sale, according to the council.
Deputy City Mayor Cllr John Merry, said: “This is a crucial development in our plans to regenerate Little Hulton and compliments the proposed adjoining new school that has just been approved.
“With the award of a works contract imminent, we hope to see work start on site next month, which will be a big boost to the local community as we know just how badly these homes are needed for the residents that are on our waiting list.”
Meanwhile, Salford is also preparing to formally appoint Seddon Construction to build 113 homes across two sites. Seddon is to construct 45 units off Blandford Road and 68 units at the former St Luke’s School on Eccles New Road.
My advice will be if your thinking of buying a house around little hulton then buy soon…. Prices have already gone up around here and will shoot even more when all those houses on brackley golf course are built….very popular area recently…plenty going on ere
