Outwood advances latest Salford Crescent scheme

Plans are being drawn up for Glassworks, a 160-home project off Hulme Street, the developer’s third development in the area.

Todd Architects is working with Outwood Developments on the project.

Rising to 16 storeys at its highest point, Glassworks “has been carefully designed in line with the aspirations of the [Salford Crescent] masterplan to ensure it facilitates later phases, including a new linear park”, according to the architect’s website.

Glassworks would be built close to Outwood Wharf, another of the developer’s projects. The 263-apartment scheme completed in June 2020 and is owned by Invesco Real Estate.

The second phase of Outwood Wharf, featuring another 296 apartments, was granted planning approval in 2018 but little work has taken place so far. CBRE is marketing the phase two site for sale.

Outwood Wharf phases one and two and Glassworks fall within the Salford Crescent masterplan area, a 252-acre regeneration strategy being delivered by English Cities Fund in partnership with Salford City Council and Salford University.

Didn’t realize there’s so much derelict land behind those buildings face the main road.

The Chapel Street/Crescent masterplan has been a massive disappointment so far. A lot of the earlier schemes look seriously dated already and the new developments have been really uninspiring.

The parking on those backstreets is already hazardous. . Hardly likely to improve with more development

By Harpsicord

The parking situation is because entitled motorists think they should be able to dump their cars on public land. If the flat doesn’t come with parking and you need a car then you probably shouldn’t live there. Common sense?
