BAE launches Barrow recruitment drive
BAE Systems Submarine Solutions, which underpins much of the industrial property market in Barrow-in-Furness, has launched a new website to help staff up for its latest shipyard contracts.
The Worklife Barrow site went live on Friday to promote vacancies as well as selling the quality of life offered by Barrow and its surrounding areas.
BAE is currently working on the new Astute class of nuclear powered attack submarines and the design of the Royal Navy's two new aircraft carriers.
The company plans to recruit "hundreds more workers", according to Barrow shipyard boss Murray Easton, this year in full-time posts.
Nearly 100 suppliers feed into BAE from premises in Barrow. The North West defence industry employs 40,000 people.
The jobs website was developed by Furness Enterprises with funding from the North West Development Agency.
In time it will also host job opportunities at other employers within the area.
