National Grid property director joins Morgan Sindall board
Muse and Lovell parent Morgan Sindall Group has appointed National Grid property director Malcolm Cooper as non-executive director from today.
Cooper will be a member of the remuneration, nominations and audit committees and will succeed Liz Peace as chairman of the audit committee at the end of the Annual General Meeting on 5 May 2016.
Cooper is a qualified accountant and experienced FTSE 250 audit chairman. He is global tax and treasury director at National Grid as well as being managing director of the company’s property division.
Cooper gained additional exposure to property construction through his non-executive directorship at St William Homes LLP, a joint venture with Berkeley Homes. Prior to National Grid he was group treasurer and director of corporate finance at Lattice Group and director of corporate finance at BG Group.
Adrian Martin, chairman of Morgan Sindall Group, said: “We believe that [Malcolm] will make a significant contribution as an independent non-executive director and his corporate finance background and operational experience as property director at National Grid will bring valuable new skills and knowledge to board discussions. I look forward to working with Malcolm in the coming years.”
