SITE VISIT | Allied London’s No1 Spinningfields
PwC is well underway fitting out its 50,000 sq ft office, and a ground floor M&S Foodhall is set to open this month. As the first occupiers move into the building, Place North West took in the view from No1 Spinningfields’ 19th floor.
The 300,000 sq ft tower is the final major part of Manchester’s key commercial district, and reached practical completion in August, with Bam Construction handing the building over to developer Allied London.

Designed by SimpsonHaugh, No1 has secured a string of lettings prior to completion, with major pre-lets to PwC and Squire Patton Boggs being followed by more recent deals such as co-working operator WeWork, which signed for 60,000 sq ft in June. Other businesses moving into the building include Browne Jacobson, NorthEdge and Oliver James.
High end restaurant operator D&D London agreed terms for 9,500 sq ft early in the scheme’s development, and will be openings its restaurant on the 19th floor in February. On the 17th floor, Allied London has kept 10,000 sq ft to be operated as a private members’ club.
Allied London is promoting the building as “the tallest commercial building to be built in the city since the 1960s”, with D&D set to be the highest restaurant in the city, sitting higher than Beetham Tower’s Cloud 23.

I’m surprised to see the shrubbery planted into the terrace rather than in pots. How do they manage the root system or are the pots actually just inlaid into the floor?
