Kingmoor Park primed for 1.1m sq ft expansion

Outline plans have been lodged to extend Carlisle’s largest industrial estate with further manufacturing, logistics and industrial space.

Developer Kingmoor Park Properties is working with architect Fletcher-Rae on plans for the 82.7-acre site. To be known as Kingmoor Park West, the plot lies between Kingmoor Park’s northern and central areas.

Planner for the project is WSP. Also engaged are transport advisor Sweco, Ramboll and Reform Landscape Architecture.

The park sits close to Junction 44 of the M6. Currently in agricultural use as part of the Cringledyke farm estate, the application site is earmarked for employment use within the Brunthill allocation part of Carlisle’s Local Plan. The plans include new access from the A689.

Edinburgh Woollen Mill and Cumbria County Council are among the major occupiers at the business park. In August, plans from parcel distributor DPD for a relocation within the site were approved.

According to Fletcher-Rae’s design and access statement, the site divides naturally into three distinct development zones on separate plateaux.

From illustrative layouts in the planning documents, two of these zones look to be aimed at larger occupiers, with a third made up of smaller units.
