Large comedy club approved in Liverpool
Armed with planning permission, Hot Water Comedy Club can continue its plans to turn a warehouse on Blackstock Street into live music and comedy venue.
Liverpool City Council gave the green light to the application for Blackstock Market at its planning committee meeting on Tuesday – a decision in line with officer recommendation.
Hot Water Club’s success was the second big approval of the planning meeting – the first being Sciontec’s Hemisphere, a 120,000 sq ft office at Paddington Village.
With an internal area of more than 45,000 sq ft, Blackstock Market will have multiple theatres, recording studios, a roof terrace bar, and a food hall.
Architect Smith Young has drawn up the designs for the venue, which will also have a podcast theatre.
According to the venue’s website, Blackstock Market will be opening later this year. It promises more than 10 shows every week at the comedy club, as well as live music every night.
The project team for Blackstock Market includes Mewies Engineering Consultants, AMC Ecological, and Hepworth Acoustics.

Shame they didn’t save Schofield’s Lemonade factory that was a fabulous building. The guy taking it down said it was being shipped to New York not sure if true.
