MC Construction appoints managing director

Russ Forshaw has been promoted from group operations director, six years after he joined the building contractor.

Forshaw has replaced David Lowe as managing director of MC Construction, a title he held for 11 years. Lowe has now taken on the role of executive chairman of the company.

Forshaw joined the Salford-based family business in June 2017 as head of a new facilities services division before his promotion to group operations director in June 2019.

Other previous positions include deputy build manager at Sheppard Construction, where Forshaw worked for more than six years until 2011.

He then joined Manchester Central, where he worked his way up from facilities manager to director of facilities management in his five years there.

In a company first, Forshaw is MC Construction’s first non-family member who has held the managing director role since the firm was founded in 1971.

Forshaw said: “MC Construction has over half a century of history, with a proud record of successfully delivering projects for multiple clients across a variety of sectors throughout the North West.”

Lowe added: “This has been a planned succession and we know Russ is the right person to step into the managing director’s role, building on the founding families’ legacy to take the business forward.”

The team of 60 is active throughout the North West. The company is currently working on a project to transform the civic and cultural space between the Lifestyle Centre and Memorial Square in Crewe as the first phase of a public space overhaul in the town centre.

Victor, the firm’s development arm, is working on its first housing scheme, Paradise Mews, in Manchester’s emerging Piccadilly East neighbourhood.
