Boutique hotel planned for Wennington Hall
The grade two-listed residential school would be transformed to create a 51,200 sq ft hotel operated by Bowland Inns & Hotels, the company behind the £10m conversion of Holmes Mill in Clitheroe.
Located off Lodge Lane, just outside of Wennington, the two-storey building would feature 37 bedrooms with en-suites.
Designed by Stanton Andrews Architects, proposals would see two extensions to the 1960s townhouse, one to the side dining room and one to the back function room.
Extensions would allow additional toilet facilities, as well as larger kitchens and a dedicated bar.
Existing outbuildings would be used to hold yoga, pilates, and physio sessions.
Guests would be provided with 85 car parking spaces, as well as four electrical vehicle charging points.
According to a design and access, there would be “very little alteration to the historic fabric of the building.”
The project team includes arboricultural consultant Lakeland Tree Consultancy and transport consultant DTPC. Reford is consulting on flood risk and drainage strategy.

It is nice to see that this beautiful building is not going to rack and ruin. The setting is beautiful already, will bring jobs to the local community

I went to this school in the early 80s! I was a wonderful place and prepared me to accelerate through further and higher education. This was truly a ‘special school’ and allowed me to build the confidence to take on further education and career as a systems engineer with British Aerospace and beyond. Built the character that led me to Church of Scotland ministry, and two stints at Edinburgh University.
It’s a shame these types of school are giving away to money!
Maybe I could revisit once the hotel is open?

1 spent 3 years at Wennington Hall, leaving in 1963..It was a massive part of my formative years and I have a strong affection for the place..I did visit frequently and got to have a last look around just before the official closure..If it will be serving meals to non residents I will definitely be booking a table..Good luck in your venture..
