Albert’s Schloss to open in Liverpool

Hospitality operator Mission Mars is to open a sister venue to the popular Manchester bar-restaurant at Radiant House.

Liverpool City Council this week approved Mission Mars’ proposal to change Radiant House’s use, although the company had not confirmed its intentions for the site.

The seven-storey Radiant House sits at 18-26 Bold Street in the heart of the city’s nightlife offer. Vacant since 2019, its basement and ground floor were previously a food market, while its first floor was an Argos until 2015.

Mission Mars wants to turn the building’s basement, ground floor, mezzanine and part of its first floor into a restaurant and bar with a stage for local artists to perform. There would also be a photobooth, according to the application, which was submitted by Firstplan for the company.

Albert’s Schloss Liverpool will include key elements of the Albert’s Schloss brand, the group said, with Alpine dishes served through the day and European beers being served.

Mission Mars, which also operates the similarly expansive Rudy’s pizzeria brand, is investing £3m into the new site.

Roy Ellis, chief executive of Mission Mars, said: “It’s a stunning art-deco building on Liverpool’s busiest footfall street, and we’re delighted to be bringing it back to life as Albert’s Schloss.

“We’ve designed a beautiful space, restoring a 1,000 sq ft glazed atrium while installing a large stage, green room, two large bars, an artisan bakery, a fresh tank beer system and restaurant dining for more than 500 guests.

“The first floor will be home to Ludwig’s Tavern, offering artisan Schnapps, a vermouth bar, shuffleboard and other tavern games.”

That space will be available for private hire. Mission Mars also has plans for a roof terrace, and a beer garden at the site’s rear.

Work will start shortly on the project, with the venue to open in the autumn.

The Liverpool venue will be the third Albert’s Schloss, following the Manchester flagship and Albert’s Schloss Birmingham, which opened in December 2021. Mission Mars also operates Liverpool‘s Albert’s Schenke on Hanover Street.

Great plans for a great venue, should be an massive hit with the punters, can the owners of the classic Lyceum building across the street please take note instead of leaving it mostly empty for years. Heard also that there are similar plans for Humyak House on Duke Street which is being re-furbished.

Liverpool doesn’t need this.

I personally can’t stand this place. It’s just a pretentious and glorified Wetherspoons masquerading as some sort of (non)authentic “Bavarian” experience.

@CAL we love this

Will go down well with the stag and hen crowds

@Anon, this is a massive investment that will occupy a long vacated but fine building, if you prefer all eating/drinking businesses to be UK themed only then we will be missing a lot of Italian, Spanish , Brazilian , Mexican etc outlets from the high street.
