Altrincham medical centre sells for £1.25m
The site of the St John’s medical practice, which has now relocated to the town’s healthcare hub opposite the market, has been bought for redevelopment at auction.
Quinta Group is understood to be the winning bidder for the prominent property on the approach to the town centre, which includes a 6,000 sq ft surgery and offices.
The two-storey building on St John’s Road also includes around 20 parking spaces and has been mooted for residential redevelopment.
The site was sold on a freehold basis at auction by Roger Hannah for around £1.25m, ahead of a guide price of between £1m and £1.25m
St John’s Medical Centre is one of two practices that will relocate next week to Altrincham’s Health & Wellbeing Centre, with the first patients to be welcomed on 4 November. Barrington Road Medical Centre is also set to move into the building the following Monday.
Barrington Road, a 4,000 sq ft detached property between the town centre and the retail park, was also sold in recent weeks by Roger Hannah, again for a sum in excess of the asking price. It is understood this has been purchase by a consortium of private buyers.
The two practices were originally set to move into the 88,000 sq ft building around a year earlier; the building has remained largely empty since it opened with a scathing report by consultant EY revealing a series of failures by Trafford CCG, NHS Property Services, and Trafford Council during the project’s delivery.
