Anwyl plans 164 Preston homes

The housebuilder wants to redevelop 25 acres of the former Ingol Golf and Squash Club off Tanterton Hall Road close to where Preston North End once planned to build a new training facility.

Anwyl Homes has submitted early-stage plans for 164 houses at the Preston plot, which is part of a wider site that benefits from outline permission for 450 homes and the training complex.

While Anwyl works up plans for a 25-acre chunk of the site, fellow housebuilders Bellway and Rowland Homes have consent for a combined 300 homes elsewhere within the masterplan.

PWA Planning is advising Anwyl on the proposals. A full planning application will be submitted in due course. To learn more, search for reference number 06/2024/0602 on Preston City Council’s planning portal.

Preston North End FC secured approval for a new training complex on part of the former golf course in 2018, but the project hit the buffers thereafter.

In 2020, the club released a statement saying that the creation of the training ground was still “a number of years” off but that it remained committed to the project in the long term.

Shortly after, Preston North End acquired its current training centre in Euxton from Wigan Athletic.

this site was acquired by Trevor Hemmings some years ago and the council always said they would not allow building here
