Anwyl’s 157-home Eagles Green gets Warrington approval

The housebuilder acquired the 12.5-acre Omega site from M2 Group, a subsidiary of Miller Developments, last September – now its plans for a residential development on the old 600-acre RAF airbase have been accepted and work is underway.

A mix of two-, three-, four-, and five-bedroom detached and semi-detached homes rising no higher than 2.5 storeys have been proposed.

Across the 12.5-acre site, 118 homes will be allocated for private sale, with a mix comprising six one-, 17 two-, 57 three-, and 38 four-bedroom houses.

The remaining 39 houses will be affordable and offered in the form of two one-, 20 two-, and 17 three-bedroom houses.

Homes will meet improved accessibility requirements and provide electric vehicle charging points, with heating and hot water to be provided via air source heat pumps.

A two-form entry primary school, a 35-acre country park, and a commercial hub are all complete and operational as part of the wider masterplan.

The scheme is the fifth phase of the Omega redevelopment, which is the largest mixed-use development site in the North West, which constitutes industrial units and more than 1,400 homes.

Industrial units are also under construction at the site such as the £28m unit four, while deals for sheds have been made, such as Iceland’s 550,000 sq ft deal at Omega West.

John Grime, managing director at Anwyl Homes Lancashire, said: “There’s a real demand for new homes in the Warrington area as is evident from the volume of enquiries we’ve received about Eagles Green since we acquired the land last autumn.

“Work on site has only just started, but already more than 300 people have registered their interest.”

He continued: “There’ll be up to 70 people working onsite at a time so that we can deliver the high-quality, energy-efficient homes people want and need.

“It’s likely we’ll be building here through to summer 2027, providing jobs for dozens of people on site and supporting many more in the supply chain.”

The first properties are expected to go on sale in spring this year.
