Ashberry buys land from Bolton Wanderers
The housebuilder plans to build 59 homes on part of the football club’s former training ground, having acquired the four-acre Lostock site.
Ashberry Homes already has planning permission for the residential development, located off Academy Way. Bellway was given permission for the scheme in 2022.
The development will be known as The Academy, a nod to the former use of the site, which was once part of Bolton Wanderers training ground.
Academy Walk will comprise a mix of three- and four-bedroom houses, as well as nine two-bedroom affordable homes.
Construction of the scheme is due to begin in August.
Ashberry Homes will contribute £196,000 towards secondary school education and £83,000 towards public open space as part of its planning obligations.
Grace Yarlett, sales director at Ashberry Homes, said: “Located less than four miles from Bolton town centre in the thriving and sought-after suburb of Lostock, The Academy benefits from great local amenities, highly regarded schools and excellent transport links.
“We are very much looking forward to building starting on site this month, providing the perfect collection of well-designed, modern homes for discerning homebuyers, with the first properties released for sale in early September.”
In neighbouring Wigan, Ashberry is redeveloping a former lorry depot in Tyldesley into a 71-home scheme.
The developer acquired the four-acre Mosley Common Road plot for an undisclosed sum.
Known as the Depot, the project will feature a mix of semi-detached, detached and mews properties.
