ATG profits set to soar after rival takeover
A Cheshire airfield specialist is expecting to increase its revenue by almost 70% after buying out a competitor.
Warrington-based airport infrastructure specialist ATG Airports has doubled in size and will see its turnover rise from £12m to around £20m following the acquisition of Alstom Airport Lighting.
The business has been bought from the power division of the multi-national Alstom engineering group.
The deal will increase ATG's presence in the highly competitive market, as well as enabling it to take on larger-scale projects.
Alstom Airport Lighting is a 75-year-old, £8m turnover business which specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of airport lighting systems, such as runway lighting. It has provided services to more than 700 civil and military airports around the world.
No extra jobs are expected to be created in the North West as a result of the acquisition. Instead, Alstom's base will remain in Rugby and work will be shared between the two sites.
