Bellway, Great Places join forces for latest phase of Shaw housing

The housing association will manage 100 of the next 192 homes planned at a former distribution centre in Oldham.

With Great Places Housing Association on board, the scheme will deliver 57% affordable housing, up significantly on the 20% originally proposed, according to Bellway.

The affordable mix will comprise 47 homes for shared ownership, 25 for affordable rent, and 38 at discounted market value. The remaining 92 will be sold by Bellway on the open market.

The scheme is phase two of Bellway’s redevelopment of Shaw Distribution Centre off Beal Lane, which has outline consent for 400 homes.

The first phase – 130 homes on the 13-acre northern half of The Very Group’s former order processing and distribution site – were approved last year.

The next 192 homes will be delivered on the 17-acre southern portion of the site.

Astle Planning and Design is the architect and Pegasus is advising on planning matters.
