Blackpool FC nets training ground approval
The Tangerines have permission to develop Premier League-worthy facilities at an 87-acre plot off Garstang Road between the town and Poulton-le-Fylde.
With the majority of the site coming under Wyre Council’s jurisdiction the club needed to secure permission from two local authorities.
Wyre’s planning committee gave its consent for the aspects of the development under its control back in April.
This week Blackpool Council’s planning committee gave the green light for the elements of the plans covering car parking at the site which falls under its remit.
It means the club can now develop a two-storey building, indoor pitch, rooms for ground staff, and 10 outdoor pitches, along with parking spaces for 120 cars.
Other infrastructure covered by the project, which would be developed on a Green Belt site, includes floodlighting and footpaths.
Wyre’s approval was subject to an S106 legal agreement to secure financial contributions towards improving public rights of way.
The project team comprises AFL Architects and PWA includes Miller Goodall, Groundsure, AEC, and MJMC.
Also involved on the team are Miro Drainage, Milieu, Lexington, Hannan Associates, ERAP, Walker Sime, O’Neil and Partners, and Nationwide CDM.
