Cobalt raids Irwell Valley for Rogers’ successor
Claire Griffiths, currently executive director of growth, development and assets at Irwell Valley Homes in Salford, will become Cobalt Housing’s new chief executive in August.
The Liverpool-based housing association announced in January that Alan Rogers was retiring after more than 11 years with the company.
Rogers’ replacement at Cobalt has worked in the housing and regeneration sector for more than 30 years; a career that included a 13-year stint at Plus Dane Housing.
Griffiths started at Plus Dane in 2004 and left for Irwell Valley in 2017.
She said: “I’m hugely honoured and excited to be given the opportunity to lead this brilliant organisation in the next stage of its evolution and growth, serving and supporting the communities of Norris Green, Croxteth and Fazakerley.
“I’m looking forward to working closely with colleagues, customers, the board and our partners in the city and city region to make sure we deliver the best possible outcomes.”
Stephen Kinsella, chair of the board at Cobalt Housing, added: “Claire came through a very rigorous process, and Cobalt’s board unanimously agreed that she is a great fit. She fully understands what we are trying to achieve for our tenants and community, and the importance of the role we play in North Liverpool.
“Her ambition for Cobalt’s neighbourhoods really impressed the panel, and she had a great understanding of what makes us different to other housing associations.”
Cobalt manages 5,900 homes in North Liverpool and plans to deliver 1,000 new homes by 2030.
