Colwyn Bay resi opportunity hits market

Rydal Penrhos School is looking to sell a half-acre plot off the West Promenade in the coastal town.

Currently used as a boatyard, the site in Colwyn Bay sits next to a series of homes and hotels.

There is already a planning application lodged with Conwy County Council for the land, with an aim to build an 18-flat complex there reaching five storeys.

Legat Owen is marketing the property for the school. Director Will Rees noted: “Legat Owen has extensive experience along the North Wales coastline and believes that this represents a rare opportunity as arguably the last prime seafront development site in the town.

“Given its desirable residential setting, panoramic views of the coastline, and central seafront position, we anticipate receiving interest from a range of bespoke developers,” Rees said.

The plot currently has a guide price of £900,000. Legat Owen is accepting offers until 5pm on 26 September.

Good school, my dad sent me there to get me away from Manchester

I think it will be a terrible shame to lose yet another boating amenity, albeit a private school facility. The North Wales coast is becoming less and less accessible for watersport and sea related activities and I would have hoped the planners would have resisted the change of use of this site to residential!

And when they’re built , you’ll have to be a millionaire to live there , so that’s me out !

My mum sent me here to stop me getting a scouse accent. It still grates her when I speak but she doesn’t get as angry as she used to.
