Consent for L&Q’s Stretford demolitions
Trafford Council has granted the housing association permission to bulldoze 38 bungalows on Highfield Close that have become a target for anti-social behaviour.
L&Q applied to knock down the properties in April. The homes are deemed to be in a “poor state of repair and no longer fit for purpose”, according to a cover letter prepared by Euan Kellie Property Solutions.
“Structural issues” were identified in 2018 and the homes have been vacant since last October. Since then, they have been the subject of anti-social behaviour and vandalism.
Knocking down the properties is seen as the best solution to address these issues.
L&Q has no fixed plans for the future of the site but is “assessing potential redevelopment options”, according to EKPS.
In total, it will take 24 weeks to clear the site. The process of disconnecting the properties began in mid-March.
Highfield Close is located south of Stretford Mall where L&Q is drawing up plans for around 200 homes as part of the 27-acre regeneration project.
Of course they have plans… they have had plans for years before they became L and Q

What a waste of housing
Pity they let them deteriorate in the first place. There is always a shortage of bungalows for the elderly and disabled.

Why haven’t they been knocked b4, if they are not safe

Why not make the properties habitable instead of leaving an unsitely mess behind
