Contractor sought for 247,500 sq ft Port of Liverpool shed
Peel Ports wants to build a multi-user warehouse at Alexandra Dock in Bootle.
The developer, which owns some of the UK’s busiest ports, is seeking expressions of interest from contractors for the 247,500 sq ft project.
Construction firms have until 30 September to “demonstrate to Peel Ports their warehouse design and build capability”, according to a tender notice.
This exercise will inform the procurement methodology Peel adopts in order to appoint a contractor for the project.
“The warehouse is likely to be of portal frame construction, designed to maximise the clear internal height, particularly at the eaves/haunch,” the notice states.
Peel has already developed just shy of 1m sq ft of multi-user warehouse space at the £400m Liverpool2, part of the Port of Liverpool. The latest phase will see an additional quarter of a million sq ft developed.
This type of warehouse is aimed at providing accommodation for several businesses at any given time, that is capable of storing a variety of products on a short- or long-term basis.
Peel was contacted for comment.
