Cuboid to open Northwich storage units
The storage arm of FI Real Estate Management is to operate a 14,100 sq ft facility at Winnington Business Park in Northwich.
The 216-room shed, in a first for the company, will offer self-storage for a range of domestic uses, including house moves, students, travelling, and storing equipment for hobbies.
It will be built by FI’s construction arm, FI Construction, with units due to open to the public in Q2 2025.
The Winnington Business Park will offer the site an automated access control system and 24/7 security.
Tim Knowles, managing director and founder of FI Real Estate Management, said: “Our ethos at Cuboid is to always be growing, innovating, and adapting to the needs of the market, and we’re delighted to be taking our first step into the world of internal self-storage.
“We’ve been confidently providing container self-storage across our portfolio for over a year now, and we’re adept at knowing what our customers need, so this is a natural progression.”
Knowles continued: “As the government continues to push local authorities to deliver new housing, it’s inevitable that more storage will be needed, so we look forward to continuing to grow our portfolio and support communities around the UK.”
Cuboid owns several other sites in the North West, including Bolton, Chorley, Deeside, Eccleston, Northwich, Manchester, Prenton, Runcorn, Stockport, Widnes, and Wrexham.
At Cuboid’s Lostock Lane site, the self-storage company has launched an appeal to Bolton Council, after planning officers refused a proposal for the “temporary installation” of 42 storage containers.
A spokesperson for FI Real Estate Management said: “The land at our Lostock site is currently designated for mixed uses which includes employment uses in the council’s development plan.
“We are pleased to have already worked with the local community, including a charity, to provide much-needed storage for them on this site.
“We have appealed this decision and look forward to liaising closely with the council on our appeal, to ensure all the requirements associated with the application are met.”
