Designs revamped for Northern Quarter hotel
An application to amend designs plans for a hotel above Dry Bar have been submitted, which if approved, would bring 81 bedrooms to the market.
These amended design details draw up by Buttress Architects include a redesign of the roof, a redesigned Oldham Street and Spear street ground floor entrance, internal layout changes, and a reduction in the window sizes. The bar and retail space would remain on the ground floor and basement.
The plans have been submitted by owner Treasure Choice Enterprises, which is a joint venture led by Heeton, a residential and hospitality sector business which owns 50% of the venture. Construction group KSH Holdings owns 25% and Ryobi Kiso Holdings, through its associated company Mchester Development Pte owns the final 25%.
Treasure Choice purchased Dry Bar at 28-30 Oldham Street in 2017, which already had planning permission from 2015 to convert the upper floors into a 60-bedroom hotel. Dry Bar was put up for sale in 2016 by Christies with a guide price of £4m.
Since then, Treasure Choice, under the title of a consortium, submitted plans for a hotel with up to 101-bedrooms with a three-storey rooftop extension, which were also approved.
Heeton currently operates the Holiday Inn Express, Manchester.
GL Hearn has consulted on the scheme, which has overall been designed by HLM Architects.
