Five sign at Manchester Arndale
Lettings have been secured in M&G Real Estate and Intu's Arndale Shopping Centre, with Thomas Sabo, Aspecto, Perfect Home, Goldsmiths Boutique and Currys PC World.
Jeweller Thomas Sabo took a 1,400 sq ft unit near to the Next store on a 10-year lease, while Goldsmiths Boutique agreed to move into a 1,700 sq ft unit above Thomas Sabo on the Upper Mall.
Manchester clothing brand Aspecto signed for a 2,700 sq ft store in the south west of the shopping centre, and Perfect Home took a 3,800 sq ft store on a 10-year term.
Currys PC World will relocate from its current store in the Arndale to a new 5,700 sq ft unit, secured on a five-year lease.
Outside of the main centre, jeans brand 7 for All Mankind took a 2,000 sq ft store alongside Burberry and LK Bennett on New Cathedral Street, which is also owned by the joint venture, on a 10-year lease.
Elise Chamberlain, director of asset management at M&G Real Estate, said: "This level of interest offers us an opportunity to shape the line-up at Manchester Arndale and further develop its reputation at the heart of retailing in what is arguably England's second city, to the benefit of the 40 million consumers coming through the centre's doors."
Harper Dennis Hobbs represented Thomas Sabo, Keenan & Co acted for Goldsmiths Boutique, JLL acted for 7 for All Mankind and Savills represented Currys PC World. Barker Proudlove acted for Perfect Home and Aspecto was represented by Lawson Hubbard Lowe.
JLL and Tushingham Moore are joint retail agents for the Arndale.
The Arndale centre is still a hideous wart on the face of modern Manchester and a pretty unpleasant place to shop. When we get faster trans-Pennine links and the tram link out to the Trafford Centre is completed, this place will really start to feel the competition. One of the biggest planning blunders of recent years was the decision to allow the northern extension in the form proposed – a dated piece of design that did nothing to address the centre’s inward facing nature and sterile environment.
