Former Trafford Centre team to run Arndale
The former management team of the Trafford Centre are set to run the Manchester Arndale, which is owned by a joint venture between Capital Shopping Centres and Prupim.
In January, CSC bought the Trafford Centre from Peel for £1.6bn and its management team joined CSC as part of the company's purchase of the 1.9m sq ft shopping and leisure destination.
As well as the Trafford Centre and Manchester Arndale, the Manchester team will also be responsible for the Braehead in Glasgow and the Mall at Cribbs Causeway as part of the restructuring of CSC's management team.
The Trafford Centre and Braehead are both mixed use out-of-town schemes, while The Mall is also owned by the JV between CSC and Prupim.
Peel's former property director and managing director of the Trafford Centre, Mike Butterworth, is lined up to head the Manchester management team.
Peel's former director of property and former director of operations at the Trafford Centre, Julian Wilkinson and Gordon McKinnon respectively, are also being lined up to help manage the shopping centres being run by the Manchester team.
CSC has two regional divisions based in London and Manchester. The London team will continue to be responsible for CSC's remaining 10 retail schemes.
The decision is being taken for geographic and format reasons but the full responsibilities of Butterworth, Wilkinson, and McKinnon are still to be decided.
CSC declined to comment on its management issues when contacted by Place.
