Franco Manca to open second Manchester site
The Italian restaurant, best known for its sourdough pizzas, is to occupy the ground floor of the former Boots building on King Street.
Franco Manca owner Fulham Shore has lodged an application for new signage at 39-43 King Street in Manchester.
The King Street restaurant will be the chain’s second in the city. Its Mosley Street site opened in 2019.
Fulham Shore, which also owns The Real Greek chain of restaurants, operates more than 50 Franco Mancas in the UK and is planning more.
Last month, the London Stock Exchange-listed company announced plans to open a further 150 Franco Manca and The Real Greek restaurants both in the UK and overseas, including 10 within this financial year.
“We are very encouraged by the accelerating revenue growth trends during recent weeks despite continued challenging trading conditions,” Fulham Shore chairman David Page said in trading update today (Friday).
“This reflects the popularity and relevance of both Franco Manca and The Real Greek, underpinned by their great food and fantastic value.”
Page is the former owner of another Italian food chain, Pizza Express. He left Pizza Express when it was taken over by TDR Capital in 2003.
