Seed Architects designed the 44,700 sq ft banquet hall, which describes itself as an “enchanting garden paradise”.

A waterfall, illuminated trees, and a river weaving its way through the floor are all key features of The Balmayna – a name that means “enamelled” in Arabic.

Bolton boxer Amir Khan teamed up with Excellency Group to deliver the wedding venue off Washington Street in Deane. The Balmaya, which secured planning permission in 2013, has an estimated construction cost of around £14m.

The first wedding at the venue was held in May, with more to come.

Khan said: “It’s a great feeling obviously, the wedding hall is now open and had its first wedding. The booking sheet is full now and so many people are calling.

“I think there will be more interest and I truly believe it is one of the best wedding venues in the country and I believe it will do well,” he continued.

“It’s all about giving back to the community too and doing something for them. And having around 500 people working there at some point at the wedding hall, which will be amazing and I am happy to be able to do this for Bolton.”

Rob Hotchkiss, director at Seed Architects, added: “It’s brilliant to see weddings taking place at the venue and hearing the great reviews from those who’ve attended.

“We still have work to do: there is another wedding hall on the 2nd floor and a shisha lounge with 360 views and an external terrace so watch this space.”

Other Seed projects include the Al-Sunnah Mosque in Manchester and the recently opened Headbolt Lane Station in Kirkby.

Looks like Liberace’s mausoleum.

By YIMBY

Very beautiful, I think maybe they could have finished the ceiling off better.

Some would say tacky but this is pretty cool for a Mancunian suburb

Very understated, pared back elegance. Love it.

Drove past it the other day, its certainly impressive, hope its a big success

For me the visible tin roof bursts the bubble but to be fair I imagine that is the last thing any guest is thinking about

A lot is happening in Bolton. The Asian population in Bolton is very entrepreneurial and behind lots of new development.

This distasteful opulence belongs in Dubai not in Bolton or anywhere in the UK for that matter. Recent figures show Bolton is placed 12 in the UK in terms of poverty with more than a third of youngsters living below the poverty line. This will do precious little to help the local economy, on the contrary, it will pressure those who don’t have to spend money they haven’t got.

By mcleod

Will they finish the ceilings when they’ve got some more money in?

I wish the architects had used the same design aesthetic at Headbolt Lane. That would get me out of my car and onto the train

Building design looks decent but if you drive through the area where it’s situated, it’s deprived.

Building design looks decent but if you drive through the area where it’s situated, it’s deprived, surely there must be a better location for this kind of venue.

By Ashan

Shame about the area it’s located in. Sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the deprivation 😣

By Anonymous

Well deserved champion. May Allah give you and your family soo much more.

A deprived area of Bolton probably needs a sparkling venue to boost spirits & morale!

By Boompson

When you look up its very industrial looking a horrible sight and a dust trap so you can get dust dropping onto your food. Might be fine in some countries but not the uk.

By Bill

Opulence beyond imagination. “Look at how much money I’ve got!” Totally inappropriate and could have done so much more to support local communities. I think the tin roof says it all.

Absolutely disgraceful. Doesn’t even look elegant. Really busy with too much going on that’s typical.

“I wish the architects had used the same design aesthetic at Headbolt Lane. That would get me out of my car and onto the train”

What are you even talking about? This is wedding venue for organised events not a public space.

By Hope that helps

This is definitely for Asian wealthy families and I’m in love! Inshallah i will get married here,
