Wyre thumbs up for 251 Garstang residences

A Story Homes and Jones Homes joint venture, the development is proposed for a 41-acre site between Nateby Crossing Lane and the A6.

Construction work is slated to begin on the project in July this year.

Approval for the scheme, which includes a 2,900 sq ft convenience store, and a 2,500 sq ft coffee shop, was secured at Wyre Council’s planning committee this week.

The partnership will see Story deliver deliver 133 homes with Jones responsible for the other 118 properties.

Of the 251 homes, 75 will be designated as affordable for eligible people who have a connection to the local area.

The housing mix comprises 50 one- and two-bed, 80 three-bed, and 121 four-bedroom dwellings, ranging from terraced to semi-detached, and detached properties.

A couple of office blocks and 14 light industrial units also form part of the scheme, with Orbit Developments leading on their design.

Both housebuilders will also pay out £2.8m between them in Section 106 agreements for transport and highways improvements, and funding for primary and secondary education.

Pedestrian footways, crossings and bus stops are also in line for improvement work.

Martin Nugent, North West head of land and planning at Story Homes, said: “The properties at this development have been designed with sustainability and energy efficiency in mind, with internal layouts that offer modern, open plan living spaces and exterior design details that will create the unique street scenes for which Story Homes is renowned.

“The scheme includes a range of one to five-bedroom homes and will deliver a number of benefits to the local community, such as the provision of open market and affordable homes, and usable areas of public open space, including an equipped play area. We’re excited to see our plans come to life and to see construction works begin.”

Dan Bolton, land director from Jones Homes (Lancashire) said: “We’re not just building houses; we’re creating quality places where people want to live. From the energy-efficient designs to the thoughtfully planned public spaces, every detail is intended to foster a sense of belonging and community.

“As part of our commitment to the area we will also be making significant financial contributions towards education and highways for use by the public sector. We are confident that this development will be a successful one and enormously beneficial to the area for many years to come.”

The project team has included Urban Green, RGP Architects, Woodcroft Design, Roman Summer, PWA Planning, TPM Landscape, RG Parkins & Partners, and Martin Environmental.

Once again Eyre is acting totally irresponsible, there is no mention of another doctors practice to support the already crowded Kepple Lane Medical practice, it is typical of Wyre Council attitude towards the Garstang area, total nimby attitude and stuff the residents of Garstang

By Geoff

Wyre Council should be ashamed allowing the go ahead for more houses to be built on a very busy road also no mention of a school or medical centre, Kepple Lane is already stretched to capacity.
