Gaston takes reins at Net Zero North West

Former Peel director Jane Gaston will take over as chief executive of the industry collective from Ged Barlow who has retired.

Net Zero North West, a cluster of companies striving to decarbonise the region’s industrial sector, has appointed Gaston as its chief executive.

She has joined the company having left Peel, which is part of Net Zero North West, after almost eight years with the firm.

In her previous role, Gaston was responsible for shaping the vision and real estate proposition for the 130-acre Protos development at Ellesmere Port – the site hosts projects in resource management and sustainable energy generation to support industrial decarbonisation.

At Net Zero North West, she will lead the collective’s mission to make the region the world’s first net zero cluster by securing investment, regulatory change, and infrastructure development to support the region’s transition to a net zero economy.

Projects that fall within her remit include Hynet and the Mersey Tidal Power scheme.

Steve Goldspink, chair at Net Zero North West, praised both the incoming and outgoing chief executives.

“We express our utmost gratitude to Ged for his leadership and commitment to advancing the region’s net zero objectives, including launching our groundbreaking manifesto earlier this year.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jane as our new CEO, whose extensive experience and expertise make her the perfect fit for the role. Jane’s strategic vision, industry knowledge and proven track record in driving sustainable initiatives make her a valuable asset to our team.”

Gaston added: “I am excited to build on the foundation laid by Ged and continue the important work of advancing the region’s net zero objectives.

“I look forward to collaborating with our industry partners, stakeholders and the wider community to drive forward our ambitious goals. Together, we can achieve our vision of becoming a global leader in net zero innovation and setting a strong example for others to follow.”
