Gleeson gets consent for 164 Egremont homes
Despite a degree of local protest, the developer has been granted permission by Cumberland Council to build on a 19-acre site south of Daleview Gardens.
To be known as Castle Meadows, Gleeson Homes’ scheme will bring 13 two-, 90 three-, 57 four-, and four five-bedroom properties to market in Egremont, starting at around £190,000.
The scheme was drawn up by Design by Pod and is set to deliver 164 homes in total.
An application submitted on Gleeson’s behalf by Savills outlines plans for 16 of the homes to be affordable. The developer will also be expected to contribute more than £1m to local education services, as well as £83,000 toward the town’s recreational space.
The application also seeks to create more than six acres of green space, mainly concentrated in a central meadow, as well as play areas.
