Gleeson lodges application for 161-home St Helens scheme
The council will now consider whether to approve proposals for the development of the 18-acre plot off Chapel Lane in Sutton Manor.
Developer Gleeson Homes and landowner Haslam Grove want to build 112 market homes, 37 mews homes for affordable home ownership, and 12 single-bed maisonettes to be offered at affordable rents.
The housing mix proposed to St Helens Council would see 14 two-, 67 three-, and 31 four-bed homes built for market sale.
Prospective buyers of the affordable properties would be offered a choice from 17 two- and 20 three-bed homes.
In total 161 properties would be built.
Ten acres of the site are suitable for housing development, while the remaining eight acres of undeveloped land would be set aside for public open space, play areas, and land required for drainage and utilities.
The majority of the site is designated as ‘safeguarded land’ within the St Helens development plan.
Car parking facilities have been proposed for 310 cars.
The project team includes principal designer Urban Apex, SCP Transport Planning, Brindle & Green, STROMA, Ironside Farrar, and Lexington.
Asteer Planning is the planning consultant for the application.
