Gym group signs up at No 1 Deansgate

Paying a rent of £12.50/sq ft, gym group Fitness Space has signed up for 6,300 sq ft at Millerbrook Properties’ No 1 Deansgate.

The high-end gym company has taken space on the mezzanine level and will also have its own entrance in the building accessed via Deansgate. This space has largely been empty since the building, designed by SimpsonHaugh, completed in 2000.

Founded by former Olympian Tim Benjamin, the group has 29 sites nationally but the Deansgate site will be its first in Manchester. Fitness Space has taken a 15-year lease.

Avison Young acted for Millerbrook Property, which has also secured further lettings in and around No 1 Deansgate in recent months. These include footwear boutique Art & Sole, which has taken a five-year lease on a 2,500 sq ft unit on St Mary’s Gate on the ground floor of the building.

Benjamin said: “No 1 Deansgate is the ideal location for our first Manchester-based Fitness Space. We believe in offering a supportive, friendly environment where people can train in state-of-the-art facilities and are looking forward to rolling out the concept at No 1 Deansgate. We have an expert team of coaches to help members in Manchester get started on their fitness journey.”
