Lancaster confirms 158 Carnforth homes

A hybrid application for an initial 71 properties and an outline application for a further 87 houses on an 18-acre site in Carnforth has been approved by Lancaster City councillors, 12 voting in favour, and one against.

Plans for The Brewer’s development were submitted by Graham Anthony Associates on behalf of applicant Robert Hughes and have been divided into two phases.

Full permission was granted for phase one, which would see the development of 71 homes across nine acres of greenfield land sitting off Carnforth Brow.

Phase one’s proposed housing mix details eight single-bed apartments, 20 two-bed homes, 30 three-bed, and 13 four-bed houses.

The single-bed apartments would all be affordable properties, as well as five of the two-bed houses, and eight three-beds.

South Lakes Housing Association is expected to acquire all 21 affordable properties and take on their management.

Phase two, the application’s outline element, would see 87 more houses constructed and the development of almost 73,000 sq ft of public open space.

Included on the project’s team are Fairhurst, ERAP, and Arbconsutlants. Graham Anthony Associates took on the project’s design.
