Liverpool nursing school ‘on track’ for summer completion
Wilmott Dixon has completed the steel framework for extension of the Tithebarn Building, set to be home to the School of Nursing & Healthcare at Liverpool John Moores University, and said the project remains on schedule for its summer 2020 completion.
The NAH is being delivered along with the refurbishment of the existing School of Nursing & Allied Health building, and the adjoining Avril Robarts Library.
Upon the NAH’s completion, the scheme will provide simulation suites, teaching rooms, study and social spaces and refurbished staff accommodation.
Nursing and paramedic students joined staff from LJMU and Wilmott Dixon to sign the final piece of steel before it was craned into position.
The overall development, including the refurbishment, is scheduled to complete in March 2021.
Raphaela Kane, pro vice-chancellor for the faculty of health, said: “The framework [is] now in place and great progress is being made in the construction of this new world-class facility.
“It is fitting that a number of our nursing and allied health students signed the final piece of steel, as this development is all about our students and providing them with an outstanding, modern environment for their studies.”
Mike Lane, operations director for Wilmott Dixon in the North, said: “We’re determined to create a positive legacy beyond bricks and mortar in all the communities in which we work and we have delivered more than £90m of community and regeneration projects in Liverpool in recent years.”
Sheppard Robson is the architect for the library while Day Architectural has designed the School of Nursing and Allied Health.
Good stuff. Strange no out of town comments.
