Lovell hands Wirral keys to 283-home Fiveways
Completion of the Rock Ferry project has seen the regeneration housebuilder hand over the development to the council and housing association Riverside.
Fiveways was brought forward as a housing market renewal site, and the multi-million pound project is part of a government initiative aiming to revive and revamp housing markets in the North and Midlands.
Work on the estate has been undertaken by Lovell Partnerships, which is part of Morgan Sindall, across three phases.
The housebuilder has developed 283 homes which include properties for sale, rent, and shared ownership.
Tahreen Shad, regional partnerships director at Lovell, said: “This project has been a significant undertaking with hugely successful results, helping to regenerate this area and creating a place for communities to thrive.
“Our team acquired the project – through a tendering process, and we have been able to use our expertise in housing market renewal and brownfield regeneration to bring this forward.
“Working alongside Wirral Council and Riverside has demonstrated the power of collaboration and is testament to our strength of working alongside local authorities and housing associations. We look forward continuing to build these relationships and helping to unlock more sites for the region.”
This completion follows that of the Fountain Court development in Tranmere, consisting of 75 homes, comprising 55 houses, eight bungalows and a dozen flats built on five sites around Church Road.
Lovell also has permission to start work at the former Foxfield School site in Moreton, for 66 affordable homes in partnership with housing association Onward.
Marc Cole, interim director of regeneration and place at Wirral Council, said: “The council is pleased to mark completion of the final stage in the delivery of this transformational housing initiative, providing much-needed high quality, energy efficient affordable homes for the area.”
Nick Jones, director of development and growth at Riverside, added: “At Riverside, we work to transform communities and create opportunities for individuals to thrive.
“We are pleased to have worked in partnership with Lovell and Wirral Council to successfully bring these affordable homes to the Rock Ferry community, and to be part of a scheme which is offering local people multiple ways to step onto the property ladder and quality housing to build their lives in.
“We want to thank Homes England (the government’s housing and regeneration agency) for their funding and support in the delivery of these homes through our strategic partnership.”
The project team for this final phase featured DK Architects, Amenity Tree Care, The Alan Johnston Partnership, and Eddisons.
