Massey makes AEW homecoming to support resi push
Mark Massey has rejoined AEW Architects 22 years after leaving to join Calderpeel Architects.
Massey joins AEW as associate director with a remit of building the firm’s pipeline of residential projects. The practice is targeting growth in this sector in response to the government’s push to deliver 1.5m homes by the end of the parliament.
Massey is one of two new starters at AEW in 2025. The other is Wayne Jones, who has been appointed as technical lead, a newly created role.
Jones joins the company from rival firm Leach Rhodes Walker where he spent the last 10 years as associate director.
Jones will lead the technical delivery of projects across the practice and ensure AEW’s schemes are compliant with new and emerging legislation such as the Building Safety Act.
Both Massey and Jones will be based out of AEW’s Manchester office, which is a base for 102 staff.
Andy Rainford, managing director at AEW, said: “It’s a real pleasure to welcome Mark back to the fold who will, along with Wayne, add significant skill and experience to our already extensive capabilities.
“We have a great, growing team and many established clients in a diverse range of sectors and together, we look forward to continuing to deliver places that provide lasting value for our clients, communities and the environment.”
AEW’s current residential projects include 263 homes for Irwell Valley Home as part of the Sale West masterplan and Progressive Living and Picture This’s Fletcher Street scheme in Stockport.
