Media City bridge designs submitted
Plans have been submitted for a footbridge at the heart of Peel Holdings' Media City UK in Salford Quays.
Independent engineering and environmental consultant Gifford, Bennetts Associates and Wilkinson Eyre Architects designed the bridge which will link Media City UK on the North Quay in Salford with developments on the South Quay in Trafford, including Imperial War Museum North.
The design team said: "The cable-stayed bridge is intended to be a highly visible landmark that will become synonymous with the area, appropriate for its context and sensitive to its surroundings. It revolves to open about a civic space by the southern quayside of the canal and moves in its entirety as it opens to allow ships to continue their journey along the Ship Canal."
