Mountpark secures Jungheinrich at Omega
The developer has let a 185,000 sq ft distribution centre at the Warrington industrial park to an intralogistics provider, taking the first phase to fully let at more than 1m sq ft.
Jungheinrich, which makes forklift trucks and other warehouse machinery and equipment for the logistics sector, intends to use the unit at Mountpark Warrington Omeg to bring together its four existing facilities in the North West, including the regional sales and service centre at Warrington’s Gemini Business Park
“The UK is an important growth market for us and the move to Mountpark Warrington Omega is central to our business strategy,” said Alexander Baal, director sales operations at Jungheinrich UK.
“By bringing our North West operations together into one facility we will increase efficiency, while the quality of the building reflects our ambition to be the number one choice in intralogistics worldwide.”
Mountpark Warrington Omega is part of the 575-acre mixed-use Omega scheme at junction 8 of the M62 north of Warrington. Existing customers include Royal Mail, The Delivery Group and Gousto. Other occupiers at Omega include Brakes, Hermes, Travis Perkins, Asda, The Hut Group, Dominos and Amazon.
The developer is now on site with phase two. Construction started earlier this year and the first two units of 307,807 sq ft and 203,180 sq ft are on schedule to complete in January 2021. The third unit, totalling 225,312 sq ft, is programmed to complete in summer 2021.
CBRE and JLL are joint agents on Mountpark Warrington Omega. Jungheinrich was unrepresented.
The project is being taken forward by Mountpark Logistics EU Sarl, a Western Europe-focused joint venture between USAA Realco-Europe Holdco; BV, the Dutch subsidiary of USAA Real Estate; and Mountpark Finco Sarl (Mountpark).
