Shopblocks takes first floor at Stockport’s No 1 St Peters Square
The ecommerce website creator has signed a lease for 6,500 sq ft at the Orbit Developments-owned building.
Shopblocks previously occupied 4,000 sq ft of space across two terrace buildings off Greek Street. According to co-founder and chief executive Kevin Jones, the tech company had outgrown that space. Thus, the move to the entire first floor of 1 St Peters Square.
“There was never a possibility of us leaving Stockport because it’s such a great location to hire people,” Jones said.
“The brief from us was that the new office needed to be within five minutes of Stockport railway station, which gave us a fairly tight radius,” he continued.
“No 1 St Peters Square is perfect and takes us to the next level as we look to expand into the US and Australia.”
Egan Reid Group handled the fit-out of the space and Shopblocks moved into the office earlier this month.
“In terms of the office we’ve invested heavily in the fit-out and the result is we have a really cool tech office that creates a fantastic first impression to clients and staff alike,” Jones said.
“The new office has a stunning entrance coffee bar and meeting zone. We’ve removed all single-person offices so we have more dedicated space for staff breakout areas and shared areas.
“It also blends open plan working with one-, two- and four-person booths where staff can quickly get more focus in distraction-free areas,” Jones continued. “Each booth is fitted with screens to improve collaboration.”
Shopblocks was created in 2018 by Jones and Stewart Reynolds. The company has doubled in revenue every year since and now boasts more than 1,500 customers across the world. It employs around 50 staff.
No 1 Peters Square is owned by Orbit Developments, which is the commercial property arm of developer The Emerson Group. Cushman & Wakefield and MBRE are the leasing agents for the building.
