Tender launched for £6m Wirral health centre
A contractor is being sought to build a 24,000 sq ft clinic in West Kirby, comprising 20 doctors’ consulting rooms and other facilities.
The three-storey new-build health centre would also offer treatment rooms for minor procedures, health education and community health facilities, podiatry treatment rooms and support accommodation including offices and meeting rooms for the local NHS trust.
There would also be “a small provision for a commercial opportunity space on the ground floor”, the tender document states.
The tender has been launched by Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust and the future occupier would be Marine Lake Medical Practice, which currently operates from premises on Grange Road, West Kirby.
The proposed new building on Orrysdale Road has had planning consent from Wirral Council since 2013, and would be known as Marine Lake Health and Wellbeing Centre.
The NHS trust, in partnership with NHS England, has already secured funding for the project, which is anticipated to take around 13 months to complete once the contract is awarded.
“The new centre will play a key part in the provision of health services to the local community, as well as supporting wider health and care initiatives in the area,” the tender document states.
