Oak Construction Projects lands Stopford Park work
Cityheart has picked the local contractor to deliver the 62-home first phase of its 442-apartment development at Greek Street and Wellington Road in Stockport town centre.
Construction work will start this month on Bosden, the first of Stopford Park’s three residential buildings at Stopford Park. Bosden will provide 62 one and two bedroom homes for sale. The contract value is around £10m.
Alongside Bosden will be the Torkington with a further 122 apartments, and a 16-storey building called Lyme, to comprise 258 apartments.
Bosden is a six-storey ‘gateway’ new-build, while the Torkington is a conversion of a former Stockport College building. Lyme replaces a 60,000 sq ft building of the same name.
The three-acre project is being delivered by Cityheart, the developer behind Stockport’s Interchange development.
Cityheart bought the £120m scheme, formerly known as Royal George Village, in December 2023 following the collapse of previous developer Investar.
The former Metropolitan Girls’ School on Greek Street will also be converted into flexible workspace as part of Cityheart’s plans.
Richard Stanton, managing director of Oak Construction Projects, said: “Being a Stockport-based contractor we are especially pleased to have been appointed as Cityheart’s construction partner for Bosden.
“We will be working with our network of locally based subcontractors to deliver 62 much needed residential units on this high-profile site in central Stockport.”
Oak is wholly owned by LOTE Global Investments, registered in Leicester.
Greg Ball, development director from Cityheart, added: “We’ve been undertaking preparation work since acquiring the site last year and it is great to now appoint Oak Construction as our construction partner for Bosden.
“2025 will be an exciting year as we start to see the first of these new homes come forward for sale in the heart of Stockport which has undergone such an incredible transformation in recent years.
“Stopford Park is a new place for a community to live, work and socialise. We are building high quality homes and flex workspace, all connected by new landscaped gardens and art park for all to enjoy.”
Cityheart said that work will start soon on the two further residential buildings, with completion expected by the end of 2027.
