Oldham Athletic stadium plan gets green light

Plans for an £80m new stadium for Oldham Athletic FC and the regeneration of the Boundary Park area have been approved by Oldham council.

The scheme, designed by Frank Whittle Partnership, a new 16,000 all-seater stadium, as well as 550 homes, 60,000 sq ft of offices, a fitness club, a 120-bed hotel and conference facilities.

Development work will be phased, starting with the construction of a new North Stand, then replacing the current Chadderton Road and old Main Stand. Only the Rochdale Road End, built in 1992, will remain intact.

Oldham Athletic is owned Simon Corney, Simon Blitz and Daniel Gazal, who bought the club in December 2003.
