Phoenix Money adds experience to ranks with senior hire

Yochai Zorno has joined the Liverpool-based property lender from Shawbrook Bank.

Zorno has been appointed head of underwriting at Phoenix Money, which provides bridging loans and development finance to developers and investors.

Zorno spent three years as head of underwriting and completions at Shawbrook. Prior to that, he held various underwriting roles at Together during a 16-year stint.

At Phoenix, which counts Brickland and Integritas Property Group among its clients, Zorno will lead the lender’s bridging team.

Manish Gambhir, managing director at Phoenix Money, said: “Opportunities to work with professionals of Yochai’s calibre are rare, and we are fortunate to have been able to move quickly when the opportunity arose to offer him a role at Phoenix.

“His appointment is a significant step forward that aligns with our vision and long-term growth aspirations.”

Gambhir added: “Yochai brings extensive knowledge and expertise in underwriting, modelling, and loan management, coupled with a proven ability to deliver results in complex environments.

“His leadership will be pivotal not only in the future as we grow further, but immediately at a time when our services are in high demand as one of the largest privately backed lenders in the country.”

Phoenix Money was founded in 2020 and employs eight people out of its Liverpool office.

Earlier this year, Phoenix provided loans to support Brickland’s 262-apartment in Sheffield’s Wicker Island and Integritas’s 27-flat Copper Box in Crosby.
